It was clear that it was relatively new as the sheer whiteness was almost blinding. She squinted through her purple bangs that dangled uselessly just at the top of her vision. It didn't really matter how Katie stared the the Pokemon lab, it still stood tall in the clear winter day, almost mockingly. There was no snow on the ground sadly, it would have added something to the already dreary building. The only sign that it was in fact winter was the grass which she stood on rather awkwardly. It was a slight puke brown/green and it curled back like it would rather not touch the ground. It was almost poetic. Almost, Katie was artsy but no one could be that artsy... Almost. Katie slowly started to walk up the thin pathway, it took her a moment to actually find the pathway since the pathetic looking grass nearly overlapped it completely. She tried not to roll her eyes as she almost strutted down the path. Most about-to-be trainers would skip down this path but Katie refused. Don't get her wrong, on the inside she was flying down that path but she was still kind of sea sick. She had to take a rather long boat ride to actually arrive in the region, and lets just say the ocean didn't really agree with her. Katie shuddered at the thought of ocean, heck, she even went a shade of pale green for a second just remembering the rocking motion for about six hours. She walked a little fast down the pathway trying not to loose track of the small tiles that were covered with the wilted grass. She hadn't even realized she was almost inside the lab, it was actually the gentle hiss of the automatic doors that alerted her of how close she was. Katie took in her surroundings once more, as if she would never see them again. The reflective tiles that made up the outer shell of the lab made the dead flowers that lined its' perimeter that much more pitiful. Katie glanced behind her shoulder once, trying to find a more optimistic thing to look at before entering the building. Her eyes scanned over the leafless tree as well as the rapidly greying sky. She rolled her eyes as she decided optimism wasn't the best option. She closed her eyes for a moment and pictured herself holding a pokeball and pressing the small smooth red button. That was her in about five minutes! That was all it took for the smile to spring to her lips. She eagerly marched into the pokemon lab, to her own surprise her smile didn't waver when she noticed the giant stacks of paper everywhere. Most people would doubt the functionality of the lab upon seeing the state of the room but Katie was determined. She would get a pokemon even if it meant she had to hijack one from the day care center. She bit her lip to fight back the giggle the wanted to escape her lips. Note to self; never imagine the day care lady sprinting after you. "Ummm, excuse me? After a couple moments Katie's grin slowly started to ware out. Today was not her day apparently. Well, maybe it was her day but it just wasn't as great as it seemed. She was starting fresh today, a whole journey ahead of her along with a partner. She would get to paint when she wanted without any sacrifices, she would get to be herself. Katie couldn't help but feel inspired by her own thoughts of wisdom. She almost started to laugh again, there was no way Katie would ever have wisdom, but at least she could fake it to make it. She knew that she had a blank canvas ahead of herself. Without a doubt Katie knew that she would attack that canvas and make it into a masterpiece. "Is anybody home?

She thought it would be the professor with his morning coffee, on his way to his room, when an unfamiliar voice rang out. it startled Lilith so much that she jumped, hit her head on the desk above her, and crouched down again in pain. That was rather quiet, and obviously the sound didn't reach farther than the back room doorway, for the voice came again. "Is anyone home?" it asked. "Y-YES!! I'M HERE! DON'T LEAVE!" Lilith's small voice rose as loud as it could and shrieked a bit as she scrambled herself up, papers flying in a disorganized mess. She sighed inwardly. "Yes, hello." she said, brushing herself off, "I am Lilith, the Lab Assistant. The prof. is probably out getting his coffee, so I will be assisting you today. How can I help you? New Pokemon?" Oh, how she had longed for the day she would help someone realize their dreams. The Professor always seemed to be the one giving away pokemon. Now, it was her turn. She was in charge. "So, we have pokemon of many types. We have Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, pidgey, Starly, Emolga..." Lilith stopped in her tracks and went away to get something. She went to the now messier than ever back room, and got a heavy case. She brought, no, lugged slash dragged it back to her Customer. Carefully, she set it down on a counter, and opened it. Inside were about 50 pokeballs, each containing a starter. below were labels of what was inside. Lilith stepped aside and gestured with her hand. "Pick any you like, but only one. Remember, your starter will be with you for the rest of your adventure. Choose well."

She hadn't been expecting someone to actually be here, she just figured that the lab hadn't opened yet. She tilted her head to the side to try and pin point the voice but she drew a blank. She slowly stepped her way froward trying to get a little closer to the desk where she thought it was coming from. "I am not going anywhere!" Katie was quickly cut off as the voice started to speak again. She smiled slightly as the Pokemon assistant came into view, pink hair bobbing brightly. Katie bowed her head in greetings as the women just talked away, blissfully unaware that Katie was way too confused to really make out anything she was saying. As if she was trying to take a breath for the assistant, Lillith, but she wasn't positive if that was her name since she was kind of lost. Katie didn't even get an opportunity to ask a question as she opened her mouths lightly only to be cut off again. Katie shut her mouth with a small clinking noise and continued to try and decipher what she was saying. She new she was talking about pokemon but Katie couldn't grasp the pokemon she was saying. KAtie had heard of other types of pokemon outside the Johto Region but she never guessed she would have to know them by name. She cursed herself slightly as she sized up the pokeballs that were all labelled. They were in an organized pile of sorts but it didn't help Katie understand half the pokemon she had just listed off. She slowly rose her hand not sure if the girl would ever stop talking... Maybe Lilith would pass out from lack of oxygen before Katie got a chance to speak. She didn't hesitate for Lillith to acknowledge her question as she started to ask it while the girl was still talking. "I am kind of new to this region and I have no idea what half those pokemon are." Katie examined a random pokeball and brushed the small red circle gently. She never thought such a big decision would ever happen this quickly. "Is it possibly you give me a slow run down of what's going to happen and all that jazz." Katie didn't even try and hide her confusion. She set down the pokeball and stared intently at the Lab assistant. She was rather young actually to be at Pokemon lab. Katie guessed she wasn't that much older than herself. She couldn't help but giggle slightly. This girl was defiantly the nerd who pretended to be a pokemon when she was younger. Katie brushed her violet hair out of her face and sent it spiraling down her back. She didn't know if the girl understood what slow was so she would have to pay close attention.

Lilith quieted down to let her speak. As she did, Lilith slowly came to realization. OH!, she thought. she now close her mouth completely. Then, she looked intently back at the Girl, who was obviously younger than her. And she read her thoughts completely. Yes, yes, Lilith looked much younger than she did. But she was an intelligent, small, shy young adult! Once again, she sighed inwardly. "Okay, I'm so very sorry." Lilith started talking very slowly, and sarcastically as if she were talking to a dumb, rude, five year old. 'So, here we have pokemon from the Kanto Region. They are Fiire...Graass...Waater...normalll...flyyingg...electriiic...groouund...and daaark!"

[/b] She talked slowly, with noticeably faked interest. Then she slowly nodded her head to the girl as she pointed out the pokemon and types of the other five regions, ignoring anything she said. Slowly, when she was done, she turned to her. "There, nooww do you get it, sweety?" She said, coking her eyebrow and leaving her mouth a bit agape, just to make a point with her expression.

It took everything in Katie not to be rude to her. She would save that for the letters she wouldn't be sending home to her parents. She inhaled deeply clearly trying to contain herself. Apparently LIllith wanted to play that game, Katie couldn't help but size her up a little as she ran her hand along some pokeballs. She paused for a moment coming across a name she recognized. It took her a moment to recall the pokemon that was contained within the small capsule, and once she did she grimaced slightly. She kept grazing about the pokeballs not really taking an interest in any particular one as a name could only go so far. Katie had to take a deep breath before she talked to the witty Lab assistant. She was 78% sure she would have killed her if the floor wasn't white; to hard to clean up. "Could I please see the dark and electric pokemon?" Katie and to force some manners in there. She didn't want to sugar coat it too much but she was pretty sure she would be walking fast once she managed to get out of this stupid lab. She wasn't quite sure what came in the starter pack but she was pretty positive she was prepared. She had brought more than enough supplies with her, she was surprised they had all fit in her backpack actually. Katie shook her head slightly remembering why she was at the lab. Her first pokemon... She had no idea what to expect. All she knew was this sassy pink headed bobble head was getting on her nerves. The sooner she got out of the lab the sooner she avoided a conflict. She didn't not want to start her new journey giving someone a black eye! Katie removed her hand from the pokeballs and stood back so little miss sassy could get the balls she had requested. She didn't need to go out of her way to receive so attitude from Lillith. Heck, she was prepared to dish some attitude back!

Lilith was mentally and physically shaken by her outburst of personality. The girl, whom she still didn't know the name of, asked for a Shinx. "O-Oh! Of course, miss." She had an apologetic and sad look in her eyes as she glanced at the girl, and shakily got the shinx. "Go shinx!" In a burst of red, bright light, a shinx appeared. It seemed happy, and bright. It was also a bit confused. "There, is your shinx. If you decide on this one, you may Name it here, and you may get your starter pack." Immediately she went behind the counter and got a small orange box. It contained a Potion, 5x pokeballs, pokegear, a Pokedex, and a Town Map. Quickly, she went to the doors and checked outside for Team Heavens. All clear.

Last time she had checked she had asked to see more than one pokemon, not one stupid pokemon. She opened her mouth to snap at the lab assistant but upon seeing the harsh ray of light take the form of a shinx she paused. Her jaw hung low for a moment as she was struck speechless. The only thing she could really think of was that she loved the small little thing! She didn't even know she had walked over to it and crouched down to pet it. It was only when she got the small spark from the pokemon who was just noticing Katie was when she snapped out of her haze. This was the Pokemon. Katie rubbed the soft black fur that was on the back end of the small pokemon. Katie slowly got up happy to see it's small tail happily wagging swinging what appeared to be a star at the end of its' tail. "I-- uhh, wow, Thanks, it's perfect!" Katie plucked the small pokemon off the floor only to receive a small electric shock a couple moments later. Apparently the little guy wasn't the fastest pokemon but it didn't matter, it was the Pokemon for her. Katie happily accepted her starter pack and hastily shoved it into her bag. She would deal with sorting things out later, first she had to go before the stupid lab assistant would make her regret saying thanks. She gave a slight bow of her head as she returned her newly caught shinx. It would was going to be a great journey and a great day apparently! She muttered another thanks to Lillith hoping to never see her again which was probably. Katie quickly headed for the sliding glass doors being sure not to step on any of the stacks of paper. Knowing her luck she would trip before she made it to the door. Bag on her back and an occupied notch on her pokeball holder she was starting to paint on her once blank canvas.
